Adjudication
Groups participate for Festival Ratings or may elect to choose Comments Only. Taped and written evaluations will be provided to all concert performance groups.

Clinic
Each concert group is given a private clinic by the composer/clinician following their performance. These clinics provide an opportunity for the students and directors to meet the composers to further explore educational concepts and receive direct positive reinforcement. It also creates a lasting impression for the students.

Facilities
Dixie Classic is committed to fostering a professional atmosphere appropriate for concert performance. We use both Professional Performance Halls and outstanding High School Auditoriums. Great care is taken in choosing performance sites which provide an educational and professional atmosphere and highlight the performance capabilities of each group. Separate areas will be provided for warm-up and clinic.

Choral Adjudication
Dixe Classic is proud to be the sponsor of the National Choral Festival. Adjudication is available in most destinations on the same day. We provide flexible scheduling for groups which prefer travel together as a complete Music Department. Recordings
All concert groups receive a professional digital recording of their performance for further evaluation and archival purposes. Dixie Classic engages the services of America’s foremost recording company, MARK EDUCATIONAL RECORDINGS of Clarence, New York. www.markcustom.com They have an established reputation for providing the highest quality recording of a performance ensemble.

Selected Music Manual
Dixie Classic has developed a comprehensive selected music list of published legitimate Concert Band, Orchestra, and Choral Works. This resource is available on this website (Selected Music List). The list is categorized by level of difficulty and is designed to assist directors in choosing music which best fits the performance capabilities of their groups.

Concert Band and Orchestra
Concert performance will consist of three compositions. Bands will be required to play a march and two concert selections. Orchestras will be required to play one selection of the director’s choice and two concert selections.

Concert selections should be chosen from the graded music list to be provided by Dixie Classic or can be substituted with selections from your state list. All three selections will be adjudicated and included in performance evaluations.

Adjudication will be by a panel of three judges and one clinician. Four scores of each selection must be provided. Taped and written evaluations of your group’s performance will be provided by the entire panel. A clinic will be held in a separate rehearsal room following your performance.

Dixie Classic will provide equipment including: podium, chimes, xylophone, marimba, gong, concert bass drum, four tympani, acoustic piano, and all music stands and chairs.

Concert Classification
Groups will be classified according to the grade level of music chosen for performance.

Division I: Junior High & Middle School
Division II: Grade 2 music
Division III: Grade 3 music
Division IV: Grade 4 music
Division V: Grade 5 music
Division VI: Grade 6 music

Concert Choir
Concert performance will consist of three compositions of the director's choice. The selections should be of a level which will best demonstrate the performance capabilities of your group and should provide ample opportunities to display versatility, virtuosity, and general musicianship.

Selections should be chosen from the graded music list to be provided by National Choral Festival or can be substituted with selections from your state list. All three selections will be adjudicated and included in performance evaluations.

Adjudication will be by a panel of professional choral music educators. Taped and written evaluations of your group's performance will be provided by the entire panel. A clinic will be held in a separate rehearsal room following your performance.

 National Choral Festival will provide equipment including: podium, risers, and acoustic piano.

Choral Classification
All Groups (Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus, Madrigal Singers, Vocal Ensemble, Treble Chorus, Men's Chorus) will be classified according to the grade level of music chosen for performance.

Division I: Junior High & Middle School
Division II: Grade 2 music
Division III: Grade 3 music
Division IV: Grade 4 music
Division V: Grade 5 music

Jazz Ensemble
Jazz performance will consist of three compositions of contrasting styles: (for example Ballad, Swing, and Rock). The selections should be of a level which will best demonstrate the performance capabilities of your group and should provide ample opportunities to display versatility, virtuosity, jazz techniques and general musicianship.

There is no official list from which directors must select music. Publications of the National Association of Jazz Educators are useful as a reference; however, selections may be taken from any source. All three selections will be adjudicated and included in performance evaluations.

Adjudication will be by a panel of one or two judges who will provide taped and written evaluations of your group’s performance. Equipment provided includes chairs, stands, and acoustic or electronic piano. Any additional equipment such as a trap set or amplification system are the responsibility of participating groups. Jazz Performance is not available at any of the NAI events.

Jazz Classification
Groups will be classified according to school enrollment of grades 10-12.

Division I: Junior High & Middle School
Division II: 900 and below
Division III: 901 to 1300
Division IV: 1301 and above
