FESTIVAL LOCATION

From its celebrated symbols of patriotism to its undiscovered neighborhoods, the sights and sounds of the nation's capital draw millions of visitors every year. Packed with famous sights, free attractions, and an endless calendar of special events, Washington, DC offers year-round inspiring experiences. Beyond Washington's most familiar vistas, the capital city unwinds into a lively urban center. Casual cafes and upscale bistros line the trendy streets of Georgetown, while the downtown district sizzles with a host of new restaurants. Spontaneous Jazz notes tumble out of U Street's clubs, while world-class performers take the stage at the highly acclaimed Kennedy Center. Kayakers tackle the Potomac River as it winds past the elegant marble tributes to America's great leaders.

The times shown are representative of past festival schedules. Actual times cannot be set until the number of participating schools and specific events have been determined. You will receive a general schedule 45 days prior to the event, and an exact performance schedule 3 weeks prior. The time of your performance will depend on your grade of music and the number of groups participating in each class.

The Washington, DC Convention & Tourism Corporation serves as the lead organization to successfully manage and market Washington, DC as a premier global convention, tourism and special events destination.
Smithsonian Institution Visitor Information Center
The Smithsonian holds 100 million artifacts and specimens. The Smithsonian museums are located on the National Mall between the Washington Monument and the Capitol which includes: the Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, Museum of History and Technology, National Gallery of Art, and the 1876 Centennial Building.
Washington Monument
The Washington Monument is the most prominent, as well as one of the older, attractions in Washington, D.C. It was built in honor of George Washington, who led the country to independence, and then became its first President. The Monument is shaped like an Egyptian obelisk, 555 5/8 high, and averages 30 to 40 miles visibility in clear weather. It was finished on December 6, 1884.
Lincoln Memorial
This memorial honors the 16th President of the United States, and is a tribute to his principles and virtues. The memorial is classical architecture at its perfection, highlighted with a 19 foot high statue of the President. His famous Gettysburg Address and his Second Inaugural Address are inscribed on the south and north walls of the memorial.
Thomas Jefferson Memorial
The importance of Jefferson as one of the great figures in the Nation's history demanded this memorial site of prominence in the central plan of the Capital City. The sculpture of Jefferson depicts him standing before the committee appointed by the Continental Congress to write the Declaration of Independence.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial recognizes the men and women of our armed forces who served in the Vietnam war. The memorial is inscribed with the names of the nearly 58,000 who gave their lives in this struggle or remain missing in Southeast Asia.
Vietnam Womens Memorial
The womens war was different form the men's - instead of exploding in the jungle, it blew up in the mind. Surrounded by death, the nurses had to shut down emotionally. they could not show thieir feelings to the soldiers they were trying tohea. Like the Vietnam Wall, the Vietnam women's Memorioal has brought dealing.
Arlington National Cemetery
Here lie the remains of 175,000 American soldiers who fought in the Revolutionary War to present wars. Among the thousands of headstones marking the graves, are William Howard Taft, John F. Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and astronaut Virgil Grissom. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is manned by perpetual guards which perform with pageantry the changing of the guards ceremony throughout the day.
U.S. Capitol
The United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. It has housed the meeting chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives for almost two centuries.
Mount Vernon
The farm where Washington and his family lived was called the "Mansion House Farm." This is the part of the plantation that visitors see today. Washington developed the property's 500 acres to create a fitting setting for a country gentleman. He designed the grounds to include a deep border of woods, rolling meadows, serpentine walkways, a pleasure garden, a kitchen garden,and groves of trees. Between the Mansion and the shores of the Potomac River lay an extensive park.
Bureau of Engraving and Printing
This is the place where billions of U.S. dollars and stamps are printed each year. Take the self-guided tour and watch 7,000 sheets of bills print every hour.
Library of Congress
One of the world's largest libraries, containing over 84 million items in 470 languages. There are three buildings including the Thomas Jefferson Building, the John Adams Building and the James Madison Memorial Building. The library also offers rotating exhibits, concerts, poetry readings and lectures.
White House
Home of every United States President since 1800, this famous house is visited by more than 1 million people each year. Five of the mansion's 132 rooms are open to the public. Visitors can also catch a glimpse of the beautiful gardens and grounds.
National Archives
Each year more than a million people visit the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Most come to view the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and other historic documents on display in the Rotunda and Circular Gallery.
FBI Headquarters
A fascinating look at crime fighting techniques used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Free one-hour tour takes you into crime laboratories, past photos of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and to a live firearms demonstration. (Reservations required - Free)
